Mike’Sk8 Park Skateboarder Sponsorship Policy

It is our goal to have the best skate team in Hampton Roads while contributing to the success of worthy individuals; therefore… we make it a point to not sponsor just anyone and everyone.

Mike’Sk8 Park at Divers Unlimited of Norfolk, Inc. - makes a strong effort to only sponsor those willing to live and breathe skateboarding while striving to improve and be an excellent

example to others in “word, mouth, and deed”.

We don't typically sponsor people we do not already have a good relationship with. So go ahead… join the club, sk8 the park and begin to build a relationship with us. Plus wearing our apparel, using our gear, and working to spread the word about our park, will only serve to make us all more successful.
To whom much is given, much is expected &  required...   Can you handle it?

Bronze Level Sponsorship: (Entry level “get to know you/us” sponsorship) In this level we will get to know you and you will get to know us better. Show us your skills, attitude, and your support and over time you may be offered the next level sponsorship. Special discounts and other offers will apply. Signed contract required.

Silver Level Sponsorship Team: (Mid level sponsorship/limited spots available) Your name will be on a list for shop team consideration. Over time as a team spot opens up and/or you skills improve you may be moved to the Shop Team. Discounts and occasional Special offers may apply. May occasionally skate for the Shop Team be asked to participate in events, activities, promotions, and demonstrations. Signed contract required.

Shop Team: (“Gold” Full Sponsorship/Limited Spots Available) All sponsored members will start out on the Bronze or Silver Team. Limited free gear and apparel program, Special Discounts and occasional freebies, assistance for brand name sponsorship application. Full involvement in team events and activities – promotions, demonstrations, exhibitions. Signed contract required.

How to get sponsored:
-1. You have to be really good. But if you are “Legend in your own mind” – you have a way to go before being considered for sponsorship. We are looking for consistency in your tricks. Not just basic tricks but a sophisticated repertoire of skills and a clean style with a humble attitude. Our other team members must recommend you.

 
-2. Bringing in a DVD that showcases you skills, attitude, and style helps. You can email a link to online footage if you have a posting or website. We need to see what you can do where and in a variety of settings.

-3. Be of good character. Mike’Sk8 Park at Divers Unlimited of Norfolk, Inc.  wants to be represented in a respectful, positive manner that is encouraging to other skaters. We expect this of our Club Members, and all levels of sponsored skaters.

-4. Only a certain number of spots are available for each level. If there is a spot available or a spot coming available you may be considered. Please Be patient. Some things are worth the wait.

-5. Personality, positive attitude, and enthusiasm towards skateboarding is just as important as your skateboarding skill. Even if your skateboarding skills are incredible - if your ego and/or attitude are less than desirable we’ll just say “No thanks.”...   So that’s about it.

6. For those under 18 – Parental requirements: willingness to occasionally help with transportation, events, fundraising etc. is expected as well as keeping a  cooperative and reasonable attitude. Difficult, bossy, parents will not be tolerated and may be grounds for removal from the team. Skating should be fun and life is too short to deal with a bunch of junk.
